Sometimes you find a place – or the place finds you. For over 20 years, we, Sandy and Steffen, have been drawn to the south again and again. The Corbières enchanted us at first sight and touched us deeply. This rugged and beautiful landscape, the scent of thyme and rosemary in the warm air, the silence that is full of life at the same time – we felt at home here.
It began with a long search for the right house. We were traveling in the most remote corners of the region, always with the feeling that our place had to be here somewhere. Tuchan had long since conquered our hearts, and when we discovered an old bergerie in 2018, we knew: this is it. It became our first home in the Corbières, our place of power, especially in difficult times.
We commuted every six weeks, immersing ourselves deeper and deeper into this life between wild hills and untamed nature. In 2022, the neighbors offered us their houses – another bergerie and a shell. It was not the right moment, but the idea of a refuge was born long ago.
